Session day is approaching fast, and you are wondering what you should wear! I'm here to help, you invested in updated family portraits and want to look you best. Here are a few tips to help you select the best outfits for you and your family!

Most Importantly, Dress Comfortably!

Make sure everyone feels comfortable in the outfits you choose. It's nice to dress your littles up in fancy outfits but sometimes those fancy clothes are just uncomfortable, even for us adults. When kiddos are uncomfortable, your photoshoot may be more difficult. We have all been there, right? Wearing an outfit that's just not comfortable and all you want to do is go home and get changed. when choosing your clothing for your photoshoot make sure that there are no stiff materials and annoying tags but most importantly make sure they feel good in the outfit. Have your littles try on their outfits prior to your session, make sure they can move freely and are comfortable. The Adults in the family should follow this same rule of thumb. There is nothing like waiting to try your outfit on the day of your shoot and realizing just how uncomfortable it is to wear :(

Don't Break the Bank!!

Mom's always want to go out and buy everyone nice new outfits for their photoshoot. I'm right there with Ya, but before you do that take a second to figure out what you are going to wear! I always recommend starting the planning process around what mom is going to wear. So, Mom, choose something you LOVE and plan the other outfits around your choice. You may have something in your closet that is perfect for the occasion. There are a ton of great site options for budget friendly outfits for the kiddos.

To Match or not to Match?

My recommendation would be to choose a color scheme you wish to incorporate. For example: Light Blue, you can pair with creams and neutrals. Mom wears a light blue dress, you can mix textures and patterns that go with her dress but don't overdo the patterns, you don't want your portraits to be too busy. My recent photoshoot with my family, I wore a solid color dress while my oldest was in a cream-colored pant suit accessorized with my color scheme, my middle was in a patterned dress and my youngest was in a textured cream shirt and a pair of khakis. The outfits were pleasing to the eye and went very nicely together while not being overly busy. Pinterest has a lot of helpful styling guides if you are lost and need a little extra help deciding what colors work best together.

Don't forget to Accessorize

Jewelry, Hats, Scarfs and layers are awesome additions and add a lot of interest to your outfit.

As long as you feel comfortable and confident in you outfit choice, that's all that matters! I can't wait to work with you and get to know you and your lovely family!
